As part of the Teddington 800 celebrations, the perspectives of science and religion will be explored at an interactive lecture on the theme of 'Measuring Existence' on Tuesday 10 October 2017 from 6.30pm to 10pm.

The lecture will be held at the UK’s home of measurement, the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington.

The lecture will explore questions such as:

  • If you can't measure it then how do we know it exists?
  • How do science and religion complement each other?
  • How did Teddington's Rev Dr Stephen Hales manage the blend?
  • How has measurement benefited society?

Attendees will be able to question members of the panel:

  • Fiona Auty, Head of Communications, NPL
  • Professor John Charmley, Pro Vice-Chancellor - Academic Strategy, St Mary's University
  • Rev Azariah France-Williams, Vicar of St Peter and St Paul, Teddington
  • Rev Joe Moffat, Vicar of St Mary with St Alban

Refreshments will be available to purchase before (6.30pm to 7pm) and after (9pm to 10pm) the lecture.
