The project began with a simple aim: to equip Teddington’s historic parish church with much-needed facilities to make it truly welcoming for all and fit for purpose, today and into the future. Currently the church has no toilets, social space or facilities to offer refreshments.
To make the church building truly welcoming to all in our community by providing:
The scheme has been carefully designed to enhance our existing building and the way it relates to the beautiful churchyard around it, creating a new space where people can come together and connect, while minimising the additional footprint needed. The new development will be fully accessible and prioritise the use of sustainable energy and materials. It is the culmination of a long process of discernment, research, planning and consultation. The positive feedback received during our consultation processes with Historic England, the Diocese of London, The Teddington Society, our local community and others has been extremely welcome and encouraging.
This will be the first major development in the church for 140 years and many feel it is long overdue. Generation after generation of our predecessors have played their part in developing the building over the past 800 years to ensure it served the needs of the community. Now it is our responsibility to ensure that it is accessible and can be shared by us all.
Richmond Council granted planning permission in December 2022 and we are now excited to have already raised over 34% of the funds needed for the building work. We need your help to raise the rest. Donate now.
Many groups in our community will be helped by these simple facilities - from those with limited movement, to young families with babies and small children and the more senior members of our parish. Not to mention the countless community and school groups that will benefit from the multi-use space.
“I can’t wait for this - it’ll make it so much safer not having to cross the busy High Street for Children’s Church or use the toilets.”

“Having these facilities in the same building will really help more of my generation to participate in community life here.”

“Our church building is the spiritual heart of our community, bringing us together. These simple facilities, which many of us take for granted, will help the church welcome all in our community.”
Revd David Cloake, Vicar of Teddington Parish |
